My name is Liz. I live on The Big Island of Hawaii, where I sustain a healthy, elevated lifestyle with help from my dog friends! Continually reaching for "primal enlightenment", I learn a great deal about myself, as both a human and animal being, through my relationships with dogs. My blog is for sharing the beautiful things dogs show me every day.

CENTER VALLEY Animal Rescue
While my blog is primarily about dogs, its purpose is to represent the greater connection between humans and all animals. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, My "Virtual Mom", Marci's, compassion for - and work with - animals has always profoundly inspired me. Marci's compassion for all animals is infectious. Many years ago, Marci was a keeper at The Denver Zoo. She later worked with the famed Lou Herman in Oahu, on his renowned, long-running dolphin language study. Since I've known her, Marci has worked tirelessly for wolves at Wolf Haven International (in Tenino, WA), educating the public about their true, majestic nature; and dispelling myths that have led to their vilification. She also volunteered in Friday Harbor, WA, on San Juan Island, where she worked with penguins, seals, and baby birds. Today, Marci brought me to Center Valley Animal Rescue, in Port Townsend, WA, where we visited with the kitties, fed the iguanas, and cleaned out their habitats. I've posted a few photos of our great day here. Enjoy!
