Hi Liz!
Well, we just spent the day (because it took that long) at the high kill shelter in Miami. We wanted to take two dogs home....we couldn't take the one we wanted because the policy didn't allow us to adopt it because it had to be fostered and we couldn't foster it because we lived in a different county. Crazy huh!? Well we took home a beautiful puppy; a mini pincher and we are going back for a terrier mix who isn't allowed to be adopted until tomorrow because they have to wait to see if the owner will come to claim her. Ugh! I say what kind of owner allows their dog to become a stray to be picked up by animal control and to have to live in that place for even a minute. We drove 2 hours to go there to get her (saw her on the website) and then they wouldn't let us take her home. She wanted to come with us, she was literally hugging my arm with her paws. Now hopefully she will be there when we go back tomorrow. So happy to save a couple of lives...and our 13 year old westie is happy to have some friends.

That is AWESOME, Michelle. I know yours is a family of advocates, for people and animals alike! Congratulations on your new little buddy! The photo in this post of the Bichon getting a bath, was the good news for the day. He is 9 years old, and was adopted by the two ladies in the photo. While knowing that many of the animals never get to go home is the most CRUSHING of all things...when one DOES get to go home...it is the highest of highs.
